What are the application requirements to open a Virtual Mailbox?
You’ll need two forms of ID: one with your photo and one showing your current address. You’ll also fill out USPS Form 1583 so we’re authorized to receive your mail. Once everything’s verified, you’re all set!
How do I verify my Virtual Mailbox account?
To verify your account, upload two valid IDs (one with your photo and one with your current address), then complete and notarize the USPS Form 1583. We’ll review your documents and let you know once everything’s approved—usually pretty quick!
Note: This process applies to U.S. Virtual Mailbox addresses only.
What are the steps for using the Online Notary?
First, fill out your USPS Form 1583. Then, just click “Use Online Notary” during the process—you’ll be routed to the online notary portal. From there, you’ll be guided through the process, followed by a quick video call with a licensed notary to verify your identity and witness your signature. Once notarized, your form gets sent straight to us—easy and secure!
How do I manage my mail (open & scan, shred, pick up, etc.)?
Managing your mail is super easy! Just log in to your Shipnest Mailbox account and select an action for each mail item—open & scan, shred, forward, or schedule a pickup (if available at your location). You’re in full control with just a few clicks!
How do I check my invoice and make a payment?
Log in to your Shipnest Mailbox account and go to Billing > Statement to view your invoice and update your payment method.
If your payment failed, just update your card and retry—it usually clears things up right away.
If your account was canceled due to non-payment (NPR), you’ll need to contact support to help you sign up and settle your balance. We’ll help you get back up and running!
How do I avoid storage fees?
Easy! Just take action on your mail regularly—choose to open & scan, forward, shred, or pick up items before your free storage period ends (varies by location). You’ll see reminders in your account, so staying on top of it is a breeze!
Can I use this mailbox address as my business address for LLC registration, IRS, bank account etc?
We don’t recommend using your Shipnest address as your official business address. While many customers do use it for LLC registration or banking, some states and institutions may have restrictions. Virtual mailbox addresses are legal and fully compliant with USPS CMRA regulations, and many users leverage them for business mail and vendor correspondence.
However, using a mailbox address for LLC or bank documents may not be accepted everywhere—always double-check with your state’s licensing board, IRS guidance, or banking institution first.
